What is The Billingham Legacy Foundation?
The Billingham Legacy Foundation (BLF) is an independent charitable grant making body which invests in the Community of Billingham for the benefit of the people of Billingham.
Who can Apply?
Any individual or group can apply. A confidential financial review will be carried out by the Grants Officer, you must agree to this.
What can be funded?
There are few restrictions on what can be applied for. All needs that are of benefit to that individual or group will be considered.
What cannot be funded?
The BLF will not consider funding individuals or activities that promote a political party. BLF will also not fund individuals that have received a BLF Grant within the previous 12 month period.
The BLF would not usually fund the following, although each application will be considered on its individual merits
- Regional or local offices of national organisations
- Applications which would qualify for funding through other funders
- Projects / activities which are not for the benefit of the community of Billingham and / or its residents
- Organisations that are for the sole benefit or relief of animals or plants unless this can be evidenced it supports the wider community of Billingham
- General contributions to large appeals, or feasibility studies
- Groups who have excessive unrestricted reserves
- Improvements to land or building not open to the general public
- Groups with restricted membership
- Deficit or retrospective funding
- Sponsored events, prizes, or incentives, contingency amounts
BLF will consider applications based on evidence of
- need
- community use
- community involvement
- a well managed organisation / group
- value for money
- fundraising
- a realistic budget
Before you apply for a BLF grant please read these guidelines carefully to make sure you are eligible for funding.

- Complete the application form (attach additional sheets if required), keep a copy for your records and provide a copy for your referee.
- Make sure that the application form is signed by yourself and your referee.
